Many of us get hit this time of year with the back-to-school wardrobe purchases or the payoff of your summer holiday.  Then, along comes the charities to scrape up your leftover change.  Even with the difficult economic times, you can stave off the Grinch and let your heart can grow three sizes larger.  To prove it the staff and Cover & Rossiter individually participate in charitable events, some of which personally touch our lives.  This year, we will be participating in two events on the same day, October 18th.  These charities are the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

The JDRF’s mission:  to find a cure for diabetes and it complications through the support of research.  Our mission (Kay’s Campaign):  to support their cause and give life and hope to these appreciative youngsters.  Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which you are insulin dependent for life.  Type 2 Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that in some cases can be treated or prevented.  The staff at Cover & Rossiter have a personal interest in helping one of their own, my daughter Mikaela.  The outreach of support is overwhelming in both donations and walkers at the event.   The event itself is very relaxed and family oriented.  It’s a nice stroll though Rockford Park and local streets.  It’s even been seen that the family dog has joined in the festivities for a wagon ride.  Registration begins at 9AM and the walk begins at 11AM.  If you would like more information about Diabetes or the fundraising walk, simply go to the website:  www.JDRF.org .  To donate to our cause click here:  Kay’s Campaign Walk Page .

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer‘s mission:  to celebrate fellow cancer survivors and raise funds to move the fight against cancer forward.  Our Mission:  to walk in memory of our lost (Angela Rutland & Nancy Avery), to celebrate the renewed lives of today’s survivors and to provide comfort and hope.  Cover & Rossiter has been supporting this cause for over seven years.  They also participate in the matching gift program.  Breast Cancer is a cancerous tumor that begins from cells within the breast.  This type of cancer primarily effects women but has also been diagnosed in growing numbers of men.  This year’s walk will take place in the historic Rodney Square in downtown Wilmington.  Registration for this event begins at 7AM, the 5k run begins at 8:30AM and the walk begins at 9AM.  If you would like more information about Breast Cancer or the Making Strides walk/run, please go their local website:  www.strideswilmington.org .   To donate to our cause click here: MSABC .

As an individual and a firm we strive to involve ourselves in community outreach programs and fundraising activities.
