Marie Holliday

Managing Director, CPA, MBA

Marie was appointed Managing Director in December 2015. Since joining the Cover & Rossiter in 1997, her area of expertise has been in Tax. Marie takes a more holistic approach with her clients, in that she focuses on the various stages of growth in one’s life or business to come up with tax planning strategies that influence long-term financial stability. Marie is proud to have clients that span across multiple generations. The longstanding relationships she’s built with those clients takes the relationship from that of a commodity (e.g., annual tax preparation) to that of a partnership where the client views Marie as their trusted advisor, seeking her input on such matters as estate planning, trusts, and major business decisions.

Marie earned her undergraduate and MBA degrees from the University of Delaware. Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Delaware Society of CPAs, Estate Planning Council of Delaware, Inc., and Wilmington Tax Group. In addition, she frequently speaks to organizations/groups on a variety of tax topics.

To stay abreast of emerging trends in the profession, Marie is an active member of a practice management group (MAP) through the AICPA. Participating in this group provides a forum for in-depth practice management discussions and an exchange of best practices with managing partners/directors of similar-sized firms throughout the country. Nationally-recognized speakers and roundtable discussions are part of the program, which meets semi-annually. Ideas and initiatives at Cover & Rossiter have been sparked, in part, by her involvement with this group.

As a graduate of both St. Mark’s High School and the University of Delaware, Marie is deeply rooted in the community. She is an active member of Newark Morning Rotary Club, is Board Treasurer for New Directions Early Head Start Program, and is a Founder for the Delaware Fund for Women. In January 2019, she was elected to the Delaware State Chamber’s Board of Governors.

Marie and her husband reside in Newark, Delaware. Away from the office she enjoys reading and spending time at the beach.
