Cover & Rossiter, an award-winning CPA advisory firm recognized for providing high-quality advice and personalized service, is looking for an Accounting Manager with 4 to 6 years of experience to join our team.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Accounting Manager is both a strategic and operational position that encompasses a wide range of activities with involvement in many phases of administration, IT, vendor relationships, HR administration, facilities, operations, and marketing.  The Assistant Controller would work closely with the Controller and Managing Director on firm-wide policy setting, problem solving and decision making. The person is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the day-to-day operations of the firm and for directing the implementation of firm policies. This position reports to the Managing Director.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial

  • Develops and monitors financial reports to run our practice more efficiently and successfully
  • Assists with all controllership functions, including monitoring cash flow and accounts receivable
  • Prepares firm payroll and oversees payroll tax returns
  • Helps prepare firm personnel and capital budgets
  • Monitors monthly budget
  • Provides partners and managers with periodic financial and practice management reports as requested
  • Oversees review of employee time and expense reports
  • Supervises time and billing system
  • Monitors timely preparation of billings

 Operations and Administration

  • Assists with standardizing administrative office procedures, systems and forms (Human Resources)
  • Assists with the research and recommendations for purchase, lease or rental of necessary office fixtures and equipment
  • Evaluates and reviews coverage comparisons for all insurance annually and recommends appropriate revisions
  • Oversees Marketing Coordinator in maintaining the firm’s website
  • Chairs a feedback committee made up of administrative and client-facing personnel

Facilities

  • Analyzes space utilization and recommends revisions as needed; plans and directs office moves and renovations
  • Takes responsibility for office security in conjunction with Office Manager and IT Consultant

Personnel 

  • Assists with the administration of all employee benefit programs
  • Recommends revisions to maintain a competitive compensation and benefit package
  • Negotiates contracts with benefit vendors to provide maximum benefits at lowest costs
  • Monitors personnel evaluation system
  • Maintains personnel manual in accordance with applicable employment laws and guidelines
  • Updates personnel policies
  • Communicates and interprets policies for the partners and all employees
  • Monitors vacation time, PTO, etc.
  • Supervises accounts payable and billing, human resources, IT and marketing

DESIRED SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • A minimum of 4 – 6 years of accounting experience with responsibility for budgeting, finance, and time and billing
  • At least 2 years of experience supervising and managing personnel
  • Experience in professional services is preferred
  • Advanced Excel skill set (complex formulas, pivot tables, and macros)
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive while seeking to understand and support the partnership’s preferences and priorities
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with a proven ability to get along well with diverse personalities; tactful, mature and flexible
  • Ability to both collaborate with others as well as operate independently when required
  • High energy level and comfort performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with normal activities

COMPENSATION

$75,000 – $90,000 (based on experience)
