GEOFF LANGDON, CPA
As a Managing Director of Cover & Rossiter, Geoff focuses on strategic personal and business planning, promoting profitability and individual net worth. His primary areas of expertise include accounting and auditing, taxation, management consulting, financial planning, investment advisory services, litigation support and business valuation. Geoff is a member of Wilmington Economic and Financial Advisory Council (WEFAC) and a commissioner for Wilmington Housing Authority (WHA). Geoff serves as a consultant for numerous companies on corporate direction, financing alternatives and tax strategies.
Prior to joining our firm in 1986, Geoff was Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Finance of the University of Pennsylvania and was integrally involved in various debt financing. Previously, Geoff was a supervisor at Coopers & Lybrand in Philadelphia, where he planned and supervised audit engagements, and was the accountant in charge of complex corporate accounts. Geoff’s broad industry experience includes distribution, retail, financial management, real estate and construction. Providing frequent expert court testimony on contractual matters and personal injury, Geoff has testified at federal and state levels.
He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Accounting and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Wilmington Rotary Club. Geoff is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Accountants and a graduate of Leadership Delaware. Geoff also teaches an Accounting course at University of Delaware.
Geoff enjoys spending time with his family and taking summer trips to his mountain house in North Carolina. He is also a sports enthusiast, coaching his four boys in either basketball or baseball.
DIANE M. BURKE, CPA, MBA, AEP
Diane joined Cover & Rossiter in 1996 and was named a Director in 2003. A specialist in trust and estate tax matters, she also has expertise in estate and trust tax filings, estate administration, and preparation of formal fiduciary accountings. Diane holds a Certificate of Educational Achievement in Estate Planning and is certified as an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP).
Before beginning her career in public accounting, Diane worked as the Controller for a law firm as well as managed the budget and financial planning staff of a major retail service organization. She was also an Adjunct Professor at Goldey-Beacom College, where she taught accounting and finance courses.
Diane holds a BS in Finance, Summa Cum Laude from New York University, where she was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma (National Business Honorary), Phi Alpha Kappa (National Finance Honorary) and recipient of Dean's Honor Key and Founders Day Award. She subsequently earned an MBA in Accounting, with distinction, from the New York University Graduate School of Business. In addition, Diane received the AICPA Elijah Watt Sells award for distinguished performance on the CPA examination.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants, Forum of Executive Women, the Wilmington Tax Group, the Education Sub-Committee of the Trust Section of the Delaware Bankers Association and the Estate Planning Council of Delaware, Inc. Most recently, she has been elected to serve as a Director of the Board of the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce.
Diane regularly presents research and speaks at educational forums and professional organizations.
Diane resides in Wilmington with her husband and has three sons.
MARIE HOLLIDAY, CPA, MBA
Marie is a Director of Cover & Rossiter and head of the Corporate Tax practice. Since joining the firm in 1997, she has applied her extensive experience in tax research and corporate tax planning to assist many clients in addressing a wide variety of situations. Marie focuses on finding tax-advantaged ways to operate companies during the various stages of the business cycle to influence future business growth and development.
Her diverse accounting history includes positions as a senior accountant at another local accounting firm, a staff accountant position with an accounting firm in Maine as well as operations manager at a nonprofit organization.
She earned her undergraduate and MBA degrees from the University of Delaware. In recognition of scholastic achievement she was selected for membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society for the school of business. In addition, she had been a guest lecturer on a variety of tax topics at the University's Academy of Lifelong Learning.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Women Business Owners, Young Executive Committee of the Delaware Contractors Association, Tax Committee of the Delaware Chamber of Commerce and the Wilmington Tax Group. She is also a member of the Newark Morning Rotary Club where she presently serves as the Secretary.
Away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children and is actively involved in her children's swim team. She enjoys reading and attending her husband's high school football games.
PETER KENNEDY, CPA, CVA
Pete is a Director at Cover & Rossiter and the head of the Audit practice. Pete has developed an expertise in nonprofit accounting and auditing issues and has been privileged to work with many of the region's leading non-profit institutions. Pete is responsible for the firm's quality control policies and procedures and ensures that Cover & Rossiter meets or exceeds all professional standards.
With over 15 years of experience in the accounting field, Pete has worked in many diverse fields including manufacturing, construction, and professional and financial services. Prior to joining Cover & Rossiter, Pete worked for three years with a regional accounting firm in Philadelphia and for three years with a medical equipment manufacturer as a cost accountant (he has since recovered).
A 1985 graduate of Clarkson University, Pete holds a Bachelors degree in accounting and currently holds active licenses in both Pennsylvania and Delaware. Pete is a Certified Valuation Analyst. He is affiliated with both the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Pete retired from the Navy Reserve after twenty-one years of service (six years active duty and fifteen as a Reservist). He also enjoys spending time with his family and is active as a Cub Scout Den Leader, a member of the Delaware Community Foundation Audit Committee and a volunteer cash counter for his church.
JOANNE KENNEY SHAVER, CPA
Joanne leads the firm's captive insurance practice at Cover & Rossiter, where she has worked since 1998. During this time, she has led the Delaware Advantage Group, which is responsible for financial reporting and compliance related needs for entities that have chosen Delaware as their corporate home because of its favorable business environment.
Joanne has been integrally involved with the Delaware Captive Insurance Association since its inception in 2005. She is currently the treasurer of the Association, Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the marketing committee. Joanne has spoken at the Delaware Captive Insurance Association's annual conference and has attended numerous other marketing events on behalf of the Delaware Captive Insurance Association and its members.
A 1988 graduate of Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD, Joanne holds a BS degree in Accounting. Joanne currently holds a CPA license in the State of Delaware. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants. Joanne has received insurance training through the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) as well as the Philadelphia Insurance Society.
In her spare time, Joanne enjoys biking, running and spending time with her family.
LORETTA MANNING, CPA, FCPA
Loretta is a Manager at Cover & Rossiter providing services to individual tax clients, investment advisory services, family limited partnerships and corporate trusts. She joined Cover & Rossiter in 1996, following eight years of diversified accounting experience in both public and private firms as an accountant and controller.
Loretta is currently providing tax and accounting services to Cover & Rossiter clients as well as investment advisory services and personal financial services to clients of FirstAdvisor, LLC, a registered investment advisory firm and subsidiary of Cover & Rossiter. Additionally, she is employed as accountant and treasurer to three local Delaware Investment Holding Companies that are in the equipment construction and paper products industry. Loretta also serves as the finance committee advisor for the Delaware Psychological Association of Delaware and is the treasurer of the Wilmington LeTip Chapter.
Loretta earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Eastern College and received her CPA certificate from Pennsylvania and is also registered in Delaware. She has passed the Series 65 Exam which permits her to provide investment advisor representative services through FirstAdvisor, LLC. Loretta is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, Loretta Manning is the first Delaware based CPA to receive her Forensic Certified Public Accountant professional designation and is a member of the Forensic CPA Society.
While at Cover & Rossiter, Loretta has established a reputation for excellent service to clients. She is adept at reengineering processes to enable greater effectiveness and productivity for the firm and its clients. She also has strong investment accounting skills which enable her to work on some of the area's larger family limited partnerships, trusts and Delaware Investment Holding Companies.
Loretta enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, reading, attending charity walk-a-thons and coordinating the firm’s adopt-a-family program during the holiday season.
JENNIFER PACILLI, CPA, CVA
Jennifer is a Manager in the Tax Department of Cover & Rossiter. She applies her expertise on many of the firm's challenging and diverse corporate, individual, and international clients.
Prior to joining Cover & Rossiter in 2003, Jennifer was a Manager at an accounting firm in Haddonfield, NJ for 11 years where she was responsible for many complex accounts in various industries.
A 1992 graduate of Rowan University, she holds a BS in Accounting. She received her CPA certificate from New Jersey in 1996. Jennifer's professional affiliations include memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Wilmington Tax Group, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
Away from the office, Jennifer enjoys reading and vacationing at the Jersey shore with her husband and two daughters.
KAREN REMICK, CPA
Karen is the Manager of the Business Accounting Services practice at Cover & Rossiter. Karen and her team work closely with our non-profit and small business clients to ensure that they have in place the best possible internal reporting processes and systems.
Karen has been at Cover & Rossiter since 1999 in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility. Prior to joining Cover & Rossiter, Karen had ten years of private accounting experience in firms in the manufacturing, construction and services industries in Delaware.
Karen graduated from the University of Delaware in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She is expert in accounting software packages, including being certified in QuickBooks, and is a member of the QuickBooks ProAdvisor (SM) Program.
While at Cover & Rossiter, Karen has demonstrated a track record of excellent client satisfaction. She and her Business Accounting Services team are consistently recognized by the firm for the professionalism and thoroughness with which they provide services and solutions to their clients.
Karen’s time outside of the firm is focused on spending time with her family.
VICKIE YOUNG BEAM, CPA
Vickie is a Manager in the Audit Department of Cover & Rossiter where she runs many of the firm’s most prestigious non-profit and for-profit audits. Vickie joined Cover & Rossiter in 1997 as a Staff Accountant and has advanced to her current position through her proven technical skills and ability to consistently perform up to our clients’ high expectations. Vickie has established a reputation for her excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills.
Vickie graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree from Friends University in 1989 and attended the University of Delaware in 1995-1996 for further studies in accounting. Vickie received her CPA certificate from Delaware in 1997. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Vickie currently serves as the Treasurer on the School Board of the Pike Creek Christian School, a position she has held since 2002. She also serves as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees of Development and Research Innovations, Inc., a local non-profit organization that seeks to provide proactive intervention for underserved communities.
During Vickie’s free time she enjoys volunteer work, spending time with her husband and two children as well as running and biking.
