Legal Professionals

We started to see an increase in calls from Lawyers in 2006 who were concerned with whether they were in compliance with Rule 1.15. Our Small Business Accounting Services (SBAS) manager began fielding these calls and assisting these firms with implementing the proper accounting procedures to insure compliance. In a few instances we have revamped the entire accounting setup and reporting process. We developed a method and reporting process in QuickBooks to segregate funds by client.
In response to this demand and our experience we started assisting many other firms with their accounting and compliance with Rule 1.15 and 1.15A. We continue to field calls from law firms regarding this issue. We believe this valuable experience gives Cover & Rossiter an edge when performing not only the compliance testing but with the educating of the law firm personnel in how to do it properly.
We see the SBAS department as the “trainer”. Based on the knowledge and experience acquired serving law firms in the compliance with rule 1.15, this department is in the best position to field law firm questions regarding compliance as well as train the staff of the law firm in how to utilize their current accounting programs and procedures to achieve that goal. Our department staff is also available to review the current setup and reporting processes to suggest ways to ensure compliance.
