In
today’s ever-changing financial markets, it is
increasingly important to do your homework and ask
for proper guidance from the experts. As certified
public accountants, we offer sound and experienced
advice. Whether you need someone to help with your
tax planning or more in-depth counseling, CPAs are
experts that can help you.
There are numerous accounting firms, CPA's and CPA
firms, financial consulting firms, financial
auditing firms, tax preparers and tax audit
representation firms in Delaware. There are wide
disparities in expertise, fees and service levels
depending on who you are working with. You should
try to find a CPA who meets your needs and fee
parameters. Following are some guidelines that we
have put together to help YOU choose a CPA:
Get a
suggestion from a friend.
Ask another
professional for a reference, (i.e. your attorney,
banker).
Ask the
owner of a local business you frequent.
Once
you have found a CPA, ask him/her for background
information:
Is he/she a
certified public accountant? (not all accountants
are CPAs)
Who are
some of their clients? Call some of these clients to
see if they are satisfied with the service they
have received.
What are some of the better things they can tell you
regarding things they have done for their clients?
What is unique about the service they provide, in
order to allow you to differentiate between their
competitors?
What is their fee range? Do they have fee minimums?
Do they charge on a flat fee basis or on an hourly
basis? What value will I receive above and beyond
the fee paid to the CPA?
These questions may seem basic, but not asking them
can sometimes lead to unpleasant surprises in the
future.
